How to Embed a Tweet

Twitter is a great social media platform for business because it allows you to see what’s going on in your industry, around the world, and you can also get breaking news in an instant.

If you are using Twitter for business then I have a great feature that can help you increase the engagement for your Twitter profile. Using an embedded Tweet on your website or blog is a great way to increase engagement on your Twitter profile.

What are Embedded Tweets?

Embedded Tweets allow you to take any Tweet and embed it directly into the content of your blog post, article, or website. The Embedded Tweets display the content that is sharred in a Tweet just like you see it on Twitter. The Tweet is also intereactive which will allow a reader to follow the author, reply, retweet, and or favorite directly from the page.

How to Embed a Tweet on your Website?

Every Tweet on Twitter.com has a set of actions at the bottom, including reply, Retweet, Favorite, and More.

1. Find a Tweet that you want to embed from your Twitter account

2. Select the More option which will appear when you hover over the Tweet you want to embed.

3. Then you will see the Embed Tweet option

Embed Tweet Option

4. Once you select Embed Tweet you will be prompted to copy the sharing code for the tweet.

5. Paste the embed code in your website. If you are using WordPress paste the code into the HTML/ Text Editor via the Text option.

6. Once you save your post you will have a live Tweet on your website.

Embedding a Tweet is a simply way to show social proof. One of the great things about social media is that  consumers have no problem sharing how much they love a brand or product with their friends and followers. Display the tweets that highlight how much your customers love you and your products.

3 Tips for Navigating Your Facebook Page

Over the weekend we had our Electronic Marketing Buttcamp and a lot of entrepreneurs came ready to learn the latest techniques in Internet marketing. One hot topic was social media marketing.
A common area of confusion was Facebook Profiles vs. Facebook Pages. A Facebook profile is your personal profile this is where you can add friends and family. A Facebook page is for  your business and people “like” your page so they can receive your updates in their news feed.
Integrating  your business life into your personal profile can be tricky, so I will reveal some techniques so entrepreneurs can get the most out of their social media marketing efforts on Facebook.

1. Your Facebook Profile and Page are Separate

You must log into your Facebook Profile to get to your Page. Nobody knows what Pages are attached to your personal profile or what pages you currently manage. You can switch to using Facebook as your Page by clicking the gear icon in the upper-right corner of Facebook. Then select the Facebook Page you want to use. Selecting your page through this option will allow you to use Facebook as your page.

You can also get to your page from the left sidebar of your personal profile. When you use this option you will still be using Facebook as your personal Profile.

2. Use Facebook as your Business

While using Facebook a lot of entrepreneurs get confused, trying to figure out which account they are using. Look at the top of the page to see which name appears. Either it will be your personal profile or your business page. This is important because you always want to post a status update on your page as your page, not as your personal profile. Always switch to “use Facebook as your Page”  when you are doing any business. Any pages you like or any comments you make on other pages will be as your page. This is how you increase the engagement and make your page visible in your industry.

3. Add your Page as Your Employe in Your About Section

Let your Facebook friends know you have a business by adding your page to your Employer section. Go on your Facebook Profile and select Update info to edit your work and education section. Add your Page and select I currently work here .

Navigating around Facebook can get confusing. I hope these quick tips help you make more sense out of your Facebook Profile vs a Facebook Page.

Google Has Replaced Keyword Tool With Keyword Planner

Screen shot 2013-09-04 at 1.03.07 PM

Google has finally gotten rid of their trusted Keyword Tool. You are now required to use your AdWords account to get keyword ideas. Google replaced the Keyword Tool with the Keyword Planner. Here is Googles official blog with details about he changes and a How-to guide.

I have been using a free keyword tool and they recently made some great changes and updates. According to Wordtrackers’ blog you can get:

  • The first level of access returns 50 global results, and if you need, you can download these for use at a later date.
  • You can use the same types of search as in the full tool – ‘keywords in any order’, ‘exact keyword inside a search term’, and ‘exact keyword only’. You can even paste in up to 100 keywords of your own to assess against our database.
  • The second level of results is provided when you verify your email. Verification only takes a few seconds and you’ll get up to 100 search results – 100 downloadable results for use whenever you wish. Once you’ve verified, you can also carry out your keyword searches for more specific territories.
  • The territories available include the US, the UK, and Global. Additional territories such as France, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, India and more are available through the fee-based Keyword tool.

Social Media Strategies

Here is a helpful info graphic I found on Visual.ly.com on strategies that can help you build your audience on social media. Your social media marketing strategy should include steps on how to establish yourself and build brand awareness. Use social media to establish relationships with the consumer so that they look at you as an expert in your industry.

If you manage a Facebook page, Facebook announced that they updated its Page Terms to make it easier for managers and administrators to run promotions on their timeline.

In the past businesses had to rely on third party apps for their contests and  entrants had to give “permission” to let a third party app access their profile which turned a lot of users off. Now they can choose to administer the promotions directly on their Timelines. For example businesses can now:

  • Collect entries by having users post on the page or comment/like a page post.
  • Collect entries by having users message the page.
  • Utilize likes as a voting mechanism.

    (Source: Facebook for Business Blog)

The changes do not affect personal profiles and they still don’t allow promotions or contests. The update also address tagging, “Our Pages Terms now prohibit Pages from tagging or encouraging people to tag themselves in content that they are not actually depicted in,” according to the Facebook for Business Blog.

The is great news for business owners because:

    • You can get more engagement and participation directly on your wall with likes and comments
    • You can advertise your promotion by using a Facebook ads and reach a larger audience
    • Easier for small business to build awareness

If you are looking to run a more complex promotion to collect names and email addresses you will still need to use a third party app for your tabs. Overall with all the changes Facebook wants marketer to focus on creating engaging content for their audience.

How do you plan to use the changes to Facebook promotions to build brand awareness for your business?

You can read the downloadable PDF on the changes here.

  • Social Media Image Specifications

If you are setting up a new social media profile or updating your current profile this infographic can help you get started. The following infographic that I found on  Visual.ly  shows you the image specifications for Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkeddIN, and YouTube. As a business online it is important that you make use of the space that is given to you. You want your profile to represent your business accurately with images that will enforce brand awareness.

    Facebook Changes to Story Bumping

    thumbsup

Facebook has made some major changes to its news feed. The change has been labeled as “Story Bumping” the changes will affect how stories are displayed on your timeline. Story bump will move older stories to the top of a users News Feed. With the previous News Feed algorithm, Facebook only posted the newest stories at the top of a users timeline so every time user logged in only the freshest content remained at the top. The changes will prevent people from missing stories because they were at the bottom of their timeline. Facebook wants to deliver the right content to the right people at the right time so they can view stories that are important to them.

The changes are designed to give users relevant content in their News Feed. Advertisements are not affected by the changes.

“Last Actor” is another change that will work with the new Story Bumping timeline. Last Actor bumps up the content from the last 50 interactions you had on Facebook. If you have “Liked” or commented on someone’s content, that persons content will show up higher in your timeline.  The new update will let organic stories to reappear near the top of the News Feed if the stories are still getting a lot of engagement. Story Bumping will streamline a users timeline with stories they want to see if they missed it the first time. As a marketer your goals should be to roll with the changes and not work against the changes. You should continue to product relevant and engaging content that your followers will be happy to Like, share, or comment.
