Tom Antion: Put Out…. The Easy Way

In an effort to keep at least one of my feet imbedded deeply in my own mouth I told a lady in one of my seminars that she just needed to “Put Out” if she wanted to get more business.

NOW WAIT A MINUTE . . . Before you start sending me hate mail like that goof ball a couple weeks ago, let me explain. I was trying to tell her that instead of guarding everything she had ever created that she should give it away and more business would come to her.

Here’s how it works: You may remember that a little over a month ago I “put out” a FREE 7 Day mini course on Electronic Marketing. (If you missed it, you can still take it by sending a blank email to minicourse@aweber.com ) About 1200 people signed up for it in the first couple days. At the end of the first week I took in about $7000.00 in sales from my FREE minicourse.

You might ask, “Tom, was it a scam? Was it just a giant sales letter?” No it was not a scam, and the answer to the second question is yes AND no. It was a perfectly legitimate and credible marketing technique. . . . It’s not new either. It’s called “Give before you get.”

I gave good information that people need to know so that they can both thrive in E Marketing and also so they don’t get taken by people selling them poor services. There is nothing wrong with educating people about the benefits of your service. There was no hard sales pitch at all. Once the people who took the course realized that there was quite a bit they needed to know, they made the decision to purchase the information.

Tom Antion: Split Your Story

Split your story. Start a story near or at the beginning of your talk, but don’t finish it. Build suspense by cutting off the story at a key point or just before the climactic finish. This builds anticipation. Finish the story at the end of your talk.

When you use this technique skillfully, you will have every single person there at the end of your speech because they want to know what happened at the end of the story.

Tom Antion: Twittering To Success

Twitter is taking the social networking world by storm. Savvy Internet marketers are using it spread the word of their products and services virally around the globe. But do you know that 60% of people who signed up for Twitter never even posted a single tweet? That’s because folks are unsure of how to use the microblog service to their advantage or can’t seem to justify the time it takes to tweet.

Just because you’re unsure how to use a particular system doesn’t mean that it is a waste of time. The proper training makes all the difference in the success of your marketing efforts. Internet marketing tools come and go with lightening fast speed. You need to know which tools truly are a waste of time and which ones could really help your online efforts. A lot of marketers are making a fortune on Twitter because they took the time to find out how to make it work for them.

Tom Antion: Flip Chart Colors

Flip Chart Color
=> Black, blue and green inks have the greatest visibility.
=> Blue is the most pleasing color to look at with red coming
   in second (note: pleasing to look at and visibility are not
   the same)
=> Do not do the whole chart in red ink.
=> Avoid purple, brown, pink and yellow inks.
=> Permanent markers give the most vivid color but dry out
   faster if you leave the cap off. They also frequently bleed
   thru to the next page. Forget trying to get the ink out of
   your clothes.
=> Water colors are less vivid and squeak when you write. Ink
   will wash out of clothing.

Use Color Thoughtfully
=> Use bright colors for small graphics to make them stand out.
=> Use subtle colors for large graphics so they dont overwhelm.

Use Color Psychologically
According to Greg Bandy in “Multimedia Presentation Design for
the Uninitiated” certain colors evoke certain emotions.
=> RED = Brutal, Dangerous, Hot, Stop!
=> DARK BLUE = Stable, Trustworthy, Calm
=> LIGHT BLUE = Cool, Refreshing
=> GRAY = Integrity, Neutral, Mature
=> PURPLE = Regal, Mysterious
=> GREEN = Organic, Healthy, New life, Go Money
=> ORANGE / YELLOW = Sunny, Bright, Warm
=> WHITE = Pure, Hopeful, Clean
=> BLACK = Serious, Heavy, Profitable, Death
Since “death” is a pretty heavy way to end this section, I will
give you a reference to find out more about outstanding visual
design.

Tom Antion: Time To Start Tweeting!

Using the new networking site called “Twitter” can be helpful in keeping your clients, prospects and friends in touch with your new business ideas. It’s free, simple and a very powerful tool to drive visitors to web pages, new articles, fresh blog posts and video releases.

Using Twitter is easy. After signing up, the site prompts you to enter a short 140 character ‘blog’ that asks the question: “what are you doing?” You can then send short announcements (called ‘tweets’) about any news you have to share. Not limited to personal news, you can write about:

* new blog posts
* new article submissions
* upcoming product launches
* seminar announcements
* marketing insights
* observations about articles or books you have read
* website updates
* and absolutely anything under the sun!

While Twitter is used mainly for friends and clients to keep each other updated about the progress of their day, savvy marketers will use the ‘tweets’ to inform their followers about all the above mentioned topics and more. The best part is that you can place clickable links in your ‘tweets’ that followers can click on to go to any site or page that you want them to. Because of the 140 character limit, ‘tweets’ need to be short, creative and long URL’s can be shortened with the help of SnipUrl.com.

To add followers you simply follow someone else’s ‘tweets’ and they will in turn follow you. ‘Tweets’ are posted immediately for all of your followers to read in a “top-to-bottom” scrolling page that can be easily added to your browser or desktop. Twitter has many great applications such as instantly adding your ‘tweets’ to all of your social networking (facebook, squidoo, myspace, etc) automatically from your Twitter homepage.

This is a great way to share information, services and products to a variety of clients, prospects, friends and the curious. There is no limit to how many ‘tweets’ you can post in a day and no limit to how many followers you can have. I saw one Twitter user with over 11,000 followers that have instant access to each and every one of his posts. Can you imagine what that could do for your business? It’s time to start ‘tweeting’!
